CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela, Oct. 2 (PIA)--The Provincial Government of Isabela is aiming to plant one million trees in a day in support to the government's national greening program and to save the Sierra Madre.
Gov. Rodolfo Albano III met with various stakeholders in the province recently to solicit their support for the activity which is set in December this year and urged them to participate and provide seedlings to be planted as well.
Albano also urged LGUs led by League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) - Isabela Chapter President and Tumauini Mayor Arnold Bautista to join and participate during the "One Million Trees in One Day Tree Planting" activity.
The governor also encouraged the participation of some 2,500 BRO scholars, the Sangguniang Kabataan, the public and private sector, through cooperative tree planting agreements to ensure that the target of number of trees to be planted will reach the one million mark in one day.
This early, the Holy Trinity Agro-Forestry Multi-Purpose Cooperative, pledged to donate 10,000 narra seedlings, another 10,000 seedlings from the Isabela State University thru its President, Dr. Ricmar Aquino, and 5,000 rubber trees to be planted at the Magat Dam reforestation area in Ramon, Isabela from the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI).
The provincial government is encouraging all entities, groups, corporations, agencies and organizations to donate seedlings either by direct or online registration using the standard PGI Donation Registration Form. Registration forms are available at the Provincial Governor's Office, Provincial Capitol or can be downloaded online through the PGI's website at www.provinceofisabela.ph.
Completed registration forms should be delivered directly or through online to the Provincial Information Office and/or Provincial Youth Development Office (PYDO).
The donated seedlings will be submitted to the Environment and Natural Resources at the Provincial Capitol for proper accounting, safekeeping and recognition of donors.
On the other hand, Isabela Environment and Natural Resources Officer Geronimo Cabaccan said the cooperation of all Isabelenos are enjoined to meet the target of planting 1 million trees in one day to be held at the Ilagan - Divilacan road project and and the province's NGP site at Sitio Lagis, City of Ilagan, Isabela.
