CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga, Oct.10 (PIA) -- Various transportation groups in Central Luzon were awarded today scholarships slots by Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and Department of Transportation (DOTr) under the Tsuper Iskolar Program.
"The program seeks to help drivers or their dependents who may be affected by the Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program (PUVMP). Scholars will receive free skills training and assessment, PhP350 daily transportation and food allowance, and free entrepreneurship training for Cluster of Competencies qualifications," TESDA spokesperson Florencio F. Sunico Jr said.
Initial courses available under the program include Heavy Equipment Operations (HEO) - Forklifts and HEO hydraulic Excavator, Hilot (Wellness Massage) NC II, Shielded Metal Arc Welding NC II, Driving NC II and Overhaul Motorcycle/Small Engine leading to Motorcycle/Small Engine Servicing NC II.
"TESDA and DOTr will continue to provide trainings and assistance to our stakeholders from transportation sector under the PUVMP in the country," Sunico emphasized.
"I appeal to our drivers to avail of this scholarship grant as this will help you and your families gain alternative livelihood or employment opportunities here in the Philippines and abroad," he furthered.
About 11,302 slots have been distributed under the program nationwide since January 2019. There are 1,993 beneficiaries currently enrolled while 597 have already graduated in various courses. (CLJD-PIA 3)
