SEOUL, March 15 (Xinhua) -- South Korea's export of the information and communications technology (ICT) products kept growing for nine straight months in February, a government report showed Monday.
The ICT export went up 11.5 percent over the year to 15.28 billion U.S. dollars in February, according to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
It marked the country's second-biggest February export, which has continued to rise for nine months since June last year.
The ICT import jumped 19.3 percent to 9.19 billion dollars, sending the February trade surplus in the ICT sector to 6.09 billion dollars.
Semiconductor export advanced 12.5 percent in February from a year earlier on robust demand for both memory and system chips.
Display panel shipment soared 22.3 percent on strong demand for organic light-emitting diode (OLED), and mobile phone export gained 15.0 percent.
The ICT export to China, South Korea's biggest trading partner, amounted to 7.02 billion dollars in February, followed by export to Vietnam with 2.31 billion dollars, the United States with 1.82 billion dollars and the European Union (EU) with 930 million dollars respectively.
