KATHMANDU, Nepal - Sanju Chaudhary, a gold winner in weightlifting at the 13th South Asian Games, was discovered dead today.
Siddhi Bikram Shah, Superintendent of Police of the District Police Range in Lalitpur, said Chaudhary was found hanging inside her chamber.
He said that her room was locked from the inside and that, according to early research, she may have committed suicide. Further inquiry, according to Shah, will uncover the truth about the occurrence.
The body of Chaudhary was transported to Patan Hospital for a postmortem investigation. Weightlifter Chaudhary lived in a rented room at her coach's house in Lalitpur.
Chaudhary, 23, has arrived in Kathmandu for closed training after being selected in the preliminary round for the 19th Asian Games. She was born in Banke and won gold in the 59 kg women's division at the 13th South Asian Games in Nepal in 2019.
