SIALKOT, Pakistan - Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has claimed that a plot to kill him was being hatched, and he recorded a video message detailing the characters involved. He also stated that it would be released if anything happened to him.
In a speech to a public gathering in Sialkot, the ousted prime minister said he had recorded a video message and kept it in a "safe place" in which he mentioned every character involved in the "conspiracy" to depose his government.
"They (without mentioning names) have decided to assassinate Imran Khan. This is why I made this video; I don't consider what I do to be political, but this is a Holy War to me."
Khan claimed to have named everyone involved in the "conspiracy" abroad and at home. "In the video, I said that the names of everyone who conspired against my government were etched on my heart."
The PTI chairman stated that the reason for his video was that influential people in Pakistan were not held accountable; thus, through this video, he would expose everyone who acted "against the country's interest." Khan stated that he wanted to hold corrupt politicians accountable during his tenure, but the "powerful people" who could do so have now accepted corruption as the norm.
