KARACHI: The judicial magistrate in Karachi approved a petition on Saturday seeking the autopsy of popular televangelist Aamir Liaquat Hussain, who was discovered dead at his home earlier this month.

The decision, which was reserved for Saturday morning, was reached after hearing arguments from all parties involved.

The court stated in its order that if the death is suspicious and that there is a suspicion that a crime was committed, the law must take its course to unearth the hidden facts.

"The police surgeon stated that an external examination of the body could not determine the cause of death," the judicial magistrate stated.

The judge stated that it is still unknown what caused Liaquat's death. He went on to say that the death of the former National Assembly member raises questions about whether it was natural or not.
